Just east of Lubbock, beyond the Caprock, lies Camp Rio Blanco (CRB)—a hidden West Texas oasis shaped by decades of outdoor adventure and shared experience. For 65 years, CRB welcomed girls ages 5 to 18 to a place where nature was the classroom and every moment offered a chance to grow. Through overnight camping, outdoor exploration, and hands-on learning, campers formed lasting friendships, discovered new skills, and developed confidence and leadership that stayed with them long after they left.

Under the wide West Texas sky, campfires glow, songs echo through the trees, and laughter fills the air. Camp Rio Blanco is more than a place—it’s a tradition, a community, and a feeling of belonging rooted in the simple joy of nature, connection, and discovery.

At Camp Rio Blanco, our mission is to build a community rooted in respect, belonging, and adventure. We provide meaningful outdoor experiences that inspire growth, confidence, and connection—helping every camper discover their strengths and carry the spirit of camp with them for life.

Our vision is to preserve the legacy of Camp Rio Blanco as a place where generations come together to explore, learn, and lead with heart. We strive to nurture a brighter, more connected future—one where the joy and friendships formed around the campfire continue to spark lasting change beyond the campgrounds.​​​​​​

In 2025, Camp Rio Blanco entered a new chapter when it was generously gifted to the Camp Rio Blanco Circle of Friends. While Camp Rio Blanco is no longer a Girl Scout camp, the spirit that defined it—connection, discovery, and growth through time outdoors—continues to guide its future.

Today, the Circle of Friends stewards Camp Rio Blanco as a place where people of all ages can unplug, explore, and come together. The camp now welcomes families, youth organizations, schools, churches, and community groups from across West Texas and the South Plains, expanding access to the land and experiences that have made Camp Rio Blanco special for generations.
